Roanoke, VA — The City of Roanoke has launched StarCam, a Web cam that offers the view from the Roanoke Star on Mill Mountain. Installed in April, StarCam will serve as a way to show off our beautiful city to the world and promote Roanoke on the Internet.
Staff from the city’s Department of Technology installed the camera, working with a local service company. The real-time camera is mounted directly to the frame of the Roanoke Star with a sign posted beneath it informing visitors, “If you are standing on the overlook, you are on StarCam! Call your family and friends, and have them go online to www.roanokeva.gov/starcam to see you on camera.”
The city hopes StarCam will increase the awareness of Roanoke regionally, nationally, and globally.
